Villain in disguise: Jupiter’s role in impacts on Earth
Jupiter is often credited for shielding Earth from catastrophic asteroid and comet impacts. But new simulations of the influence of gas giant planets in solar systems casts doubt on Jupiter’s reputation as Earth’s protector.

The Monument to the Conquerors of Space, Moscow.
Erected in 1964, this monument celebrates the early success of the USSR in the space race. The monument itself depicts a rocket rising up on a plume of exhaust.
The base of the monument features a relief design that depicts all stages of Russia’s journey to space. It pays tribute to key heroes such as the rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, as well as the contribution of the Russian people.
For any of you artsy types, this work is a great example of Socialist Realism.

Rendezvous with Ramais a book written by Arthur C. Clarke about an alien space colony that shows up outside Earth.
The design for Rama pretty much set the standard for all space colonies in science fiction (including the Citadel in Mass Effect)
